I Espárrago del Año Contest
Conservas El Navarrico and the Museo de la Fábrica Vieja have been jointly organizing several editions of the I Espárrago del Año contest—an initiative that not only celebrates the region’s agricultural richness, but also promotes a commitment to the town of San Adrián, without which Conservas El Navarrico would be unimaginable.
Objectives of the I Espárrago del Año Contest
The contest aims to:
Promote Local Culture: Showcase San Adrián’s canning heritage and highlight the importance of asparagus in the local economy and culture.
Encourage Creativity: Stimulate creative thinking among elementary school students through art and advertising.
Engage the Community: Forge a link between the canning industry and the educational community, strengthening the sense of belonging and cooperation.
How the Contest Works
The contest is divided into two categories:
3rd and 4th Grade: Students design a hat and a label. The winning label will be used on the first 25 jars of asparagus of the year.
5th and 6th Grade: Students create an advertisement. The winning ad will be shared on social media and other media outlets.
Impact on the Community
Over the last four editions, this initiative has successfully brought together students, teachers, Conservas El Navarrico, and the Museo de la Conserva to celebrate creativity and local tradition. It also reinforces Conservas El Navarrico’s commitment to education and community development.
All proceeds from the limited-edition asparagus jars featuring the award-winning designs go entirely to the Alfonso X El Sabio School in San Adrián, Navarra, the local school that participates year after year in this award celebration.
