This week, a group of twelve agri-food companies from Navarra are participating in a trade mission in Paris, under the framework of the Navarra International Plan (PIN), an initiative led by the Department of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition. The main objective of this mission is to explore and establish business contacts within the Rungis market, known as the largest fresh produce market in the world.
On this occasion, the Government of Navarra has the support of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in France (COCEF).
The participating companies (Cárnicas Galar, Kamiku, Hacienda Ortigosa, Ekhi Gold, Embutidos Hortanco, El Navarrico, Artajo, Cárnicas Iruña, Loreki, Camporel, Conservas Medrano, and Aceites Urzante) are looking to identify new business opportunities and potential partners and clients in the French market. Additionally, the initiative aims to provide them with a deeper understanding of the agri-food distribution sector in France.
For Conservas El Navarrico, this trade mission in Paris is a great opportunity to better understand this market and to strengthen and expand its distribution channels.
The mission program included a preliminary visit to the Rungis market, which featured a networking session with market executives and a guided tour of its facilities. A networking dinner and tasting of Navarrese products was also held at the Le Mesturet restaurant in Paris, giving companies the opportunity to hold B2B meetings with French distributors and importers. The mission will conclude with a workshop on the French market led by Michel Budai, Deputy Director of the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Paris.
The Rungis market covers 234 hectares and is the largest fresh produce market in the world. It is home to more than 1,200 companies and provides employment for 13,000 people. In 2022, Rungis attracted 4,341 new buyers and moved 3 million tons of goods, including 1.78 million tons of food products, resulting in a turnover of 10 billion euros. Although 65% of its buyers are located in the Île-de-France region, Rungis also supplies companies and restaurants throughout Europe and worldwide, reaffirming its position as the most important fresh food market globally.
